Brachychiton rupestris – Queensland Bottle Tree (as seen on “The Block”)
Native to Australia the Queensland Bottle Tree is drought tolerant once established. A very easy tree to grow. Any type of fertiliser can be used. If using chicken manure, make sure it is not fresh – (must be well decayed). Ideally feed in Autumn and Spring and keep the water up over the warmer months of the year to ensure a beautiful tree in the garden. Can reach 8 – 10 metres high in Victoria. Prefers full sun/part shade and a free draining soil. If planting in clay soil, ensure it will not sit in wet soil over the cooler months. (A raised bed or metal ring would solve this problem).
Pricing is determined by the size, appearance and age of the tree, ranging from $750 up to $16,000.
